![]() ![]() And if I didn’t mention earlier – even in this series one of the main character happens to be named “Harry (Clifton)”, couldn’t just be a co-incidence you see. Amazon yet again goofed up the delivery of the last book as I always wanted to read the last book as a paperback but had to settle finally for a kindle version as just couldn’t resist waiting another couple of days for the delivery to arrive and I am glad I did that. Fantastic, Mind-blowing and just terrific was this book series which will be on the back of my head for a long long time. Another friend told me that she cried while ending the seventh book and it wasn’t any different for me too as a tear actually almost rolled down my eye (twice) as I finished the last chapter “The End” and as the German wall came crashing down and at the very end – WOW!. Imagine what impression these books leave on my fragile soul :). Last year when I picked up the first Harry Potter book when it came highly recommended by my couple of friends and a cousin – until that moment I always thought it was a case of “Much ado about nothing” and today after finishing another series of 7 books from yet another British writer – I post this review having a “Severus Snape” like hair style, wearing a Harry Potter T shirt. But for the sake of Harry And Emma Clifton and their emotional farewell, the book deserves a three stars at the best. However on the whole The Clifton Chronicles (the entire series) was immensely enjoyed and yes I still claim that Jeffrey Archer is by far one of the best storyteller of modern literature. This Was a Man gets an underwhelming 2 and a half stars. It seems like Mr Archer was in a hurry to wrap up the series. But apart from that the book is developed on wafer thin plot, which doesn't even manage to be an engaging read. Unlike rest of the books in the series, this one is rely heavily on its emotional quotient and in that department it succeeds. ![]() This book is basically an emotional farewell to the beloved characters Harry and Emma Clifton. It wasn't a typical thriller only with a few twists. Sebastian and Samantha's talented daughter, Jessica, is expelled from the Slade School of Fine Art, but her aunt Grace comes to her rescue. Sebastian Clifton becomes chairman of Farthings Kaufman bank, but only after Hakim Bishara has to resign for personal reasons. Harry Clifton sets out to write his magnum opus while his wife, Emma, completes her 10 years as Chairman of the Bristol Royal Infirmary and receives an unexpected call from Margaret Thatcher offering her a job.
